In addition to universe differences and slight differences in question wording, CERVCANLWHEN varies in the number of categories reported. To maximize comparability, IPUMS DHS uses composite coding with "Within the last 3 years" having a first digit of "1" and "4 or more years ago" having a first digit of "2." The second digit provides further detail when this additional information is available.
