INTDATECMC_ET is a 4-digit variable.

Description

INTDATECMC_ET (V008_ET) reports the century month code (CMC) for the date of the interview. However, INTDATECMC_ET is country-specific to Ethiopia, as the data are recorded using the Ethiopian calendar. For most other countries, the CMC data for the date of interview are recorded using the Gregorian calendar. On average, there is a seven to eight year gap between the Ethiopian and Gregorian calendars.

For the 2000 and 2005 Ethiopian samples only, the dates were also calculated according to the Gregorian calendar, so those samples also appear in INTDATECMC.

Comparability

INTDATECMC_ET (V008_ET) has no comparability problems across Ethiopian samples. Note that the Ethiopian century month codes are not directly comparable to those from other countries.

Comparability - Standard DHS

While a standard recode variable reporting the CMC of the date of the interview is included in every phase of the DHS data, INTDATECMC_ET is country-specific to Ethiopia.
