For women who gave birth in the last 5 years, ANCARECGOBD8_ALL indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported receiving care for pregnancy complications at some other NGO. The meaning of "other" must be interpreted relative to the specific categories included in a particular sample. This response category is country-specific to Bangladesh.
ANCARECGOBD8_ALL consists of a set of up to six separate variables, covering the most recent birth (ANCARECGOBD8_01) up to the sixth-most-recent birth (i.e., ANCARECGOBD8_02, ANCARECGOBD8_03, ANCARECGOBD8_04, ANCARECGOBD8_05, and ANCARECGOBD8_06) during the reference period prior to the survey. If ANCARECGOBD8_ALL is included in a data extract, all these separate variables are included in a researcher's data file.
Some samples in the "ANCARECGO" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
ANCARECGOBD8_ALL is combined with ANCARECGOBD6_ALL (NGO static clinic) and ANCARECGOBD7_ALL (NGO satellite clinic) in ANCARECGONGO_ALL (all NGOs) for the 2007 Bangladesh samples.
