ANCARENUTRI_ALL variables are 1-digit variables.
0 = No
1 = Yes
7 = Don't know
8 = Missing
9 = NIU (not in universe)
Description
For women who gave birth in the last three to five years, ANCARENUTRI_ALL indicates whether she received advice about diet or nutrition during pregnancy at least once during antenatal care.
ANCARENUTRI_ALL consists of separate variables, covering the most recent birth (ANCARENUTRI_01) and, in some cases, additional births, potentially up to the sixth-most-recent birth (i.e., ANCARENUTRI_02, ANCARENUTRI_03, ANCARENUTRI_04, ANCARENUTRI_05, and ANCARENUTRI_06). For most surveys, this information on providing nutritional advice during pregnancy was collected for only the most recent birth; exceptions are noted in the comparability section.

Comparability
Apart from universe differences and slight differences in question wording, ANCARENUTRI_ALL is largely comparable across samples. Surveys collecting these data on more than the most recent birth are noted below.
Comparability - Standard DHS
ANCARENUTRI_ALL is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in the standard DHS questionnaire.
Comparability — India [top]
The 1998 Indian survey collected this information for both the last birth and the second-to-last birth.
Comparability — Pakistan [top]
The 1991 Pakistan survey asks, "Did anyone advise you to eat more food than usual during that pregnancy?" rather than the more common general question about nutrition or diet advice.
