Description
For women who gave birth in the last 5 years and who received antenatal care during their most recent pregnancy, ANCMM2_01 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported receiving care from the Myanmar Red Cross, an NGO. This response category is country-specific to Myanmar.
Some samples in the "ANC" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
For the 2015 Myanmar samples, ANCMM2_01 is combined with ANCMM1_01 (Marie Stopes International), ANCMM3_01 (Population Services International [Sun Quality Network]), ANCMM4_01 (Myanmar Medical Association), and ANCMM5_01 (Other NGO) in ANCNGO_01 (all NGOs). IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ANCMM2_01 are encouraged to review ANCNGO_01 for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
ANCMM2_01 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question on where antenatal care was sought is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.
Although ANCMM2_01 is a country-specific response, it is combined with other responses in ANCNGO_01, a standard variable that encompasses all NGOs as sources of antenatal care. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of ANCMM2_01 or the comparability tab of ANCNGO_01 for more information on the specific categories combined for Myanmar 2015.
