Description

ATLR2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a government health clinic as a place to be tested for the AIDS virus. This response category is country-specific to Liberia.

Some samples in the "AT" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ATLR2 (government health clinic) is combined with ATLR1 (government health center) in ATPUBHC (all public health centers) for the 2007 and 2013 Liberia samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ATLR2 are encouraged to review ATPUBHC for a more comprehensive response category.

Comparability

ATLR2 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question about where one can get tested for the AIDS virus is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.

Although ATLR2 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules, it is combined with other responses in ATPUBHC, a standard variable that encompasses all public health centers as potential sources for an AIDS test. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of ATLR2 or the Comparability tab of ATPUBHC for more information on the specific categories combined for the 2007 and 2013 Liberia samples.
