Comparability
Apart from universe differences and slight differences in response category wording, ATPRIVLAB is largely comparable across samples. The response category is listed under the "private medical sector" header.
Only surveys with potential comparability issues are discussed below.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where one can get tested for the AIDS virus is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire. Responses are country-specific.
Comparability — Nigeria [top]
The Nigeria 2013 survey does not have a dedicated response category for this variable in the survey text. Instead, the response is taken from the "other" category write-in responses. Users should note that the DHS combines the "public" and "private" laboratory categories for this variable, a potential comparability problem for some users.
