Description

ATRTD6 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a private doctor or clinic as a potential source of treatment for HIV/AIDS. This variable is country-specific to Chad.

Some samples in the "ATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ATRTD6 (private doctor or clinic) is combined with ATRTD5 (private hospital) in ATRPRIVHOS (all private hospitals, clinics, and doctors) for the 2004 Chad sample. IPUMS DHS users interested in using ATRTD6 are encouraged to review ATRPRIVHOS for a more comprehensive response category.

Comparability

ATRTD6 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

ATRTD6 is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire.
