Codes and Frequencies
Description
BPLWHO reports who last checked the respondent's blood pressure.
Comparability
Apart from slight differences in question wording, BPLWHO is largely comparable across samples. To accommodate different degrees of detail in the responses, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding for this variable. Specifically, any response relating to doctors or nurses shares a common first digit of "2," while the distinction between doctors and nurses is indicated in the second digit (when available).
Comparability - Standard DHS
BPLWHO is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire.
