Description
For women who are currently married or living with a man, BRIDEWYN indicates whether bridewealth was negotiated in her current union.
Bridewealth generally refers to the giving of cash or goods by the bridegroom's kin to the bride's kin to settle a marriage. Bridewealth is sometimes part of a reciprocal exchange, in which the bride's kin pay a dowry to the groom's kin.
