Codes and Frequencies
Description
COHABLASTMO indicates whether the respondent stayed with her husband during the last 4 weeks.
Comparability
Apart from universe differences and slight differences in question wording, described below, COHABLASTMO is largely comparable across samples.
To maximize comparability, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding with "Yes" responses having a first digit of "1." The second digit distinguishes between "Yes, together sometimes" (code "11") and "Yes, always together" (code "12"), when this additional information is available.
Comparability - Standard DHS
COHABLASTMO is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire.
