DELBD4_ALL variables are 1-digit variables.
0 = No
1 = Yes
8 = Missing
9 = NIU (not in universe)
Description
For women who gave birth in the last three to five years, DELBD4_ALL indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported a medical assistant (MA) or sub-assistant community medical officer (SACMO) gave delivery care for a recent birth. This response category is country-specific to Bangladesh.
DELBD4_ALL consists of a set of up to six separate variables, covering the most recent birth (DELBD4_01) up to the sixth-most-recent birth (i.e., DELBD4_02, DELBD4_03, DELBD4_04, DELBD4_05, and DELBD4_06) during the reference period prior to the survey. If DELBD4_ALL is included in a data extract, all these separate variables are included in a researcher's data file.

Comparability
Along with universe differences, DELBD4_ALL has some differences in question wording that may affect comparability. See below.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about who provided delivery care is included in Phase II forward of the standard DHS questionnaire. DELBD4_ALL is a country-specific response.
Comparability — Bangladesh [top]
The 2018 Bangladesh survey includes sub-assistant community medical officer (SACMO) only, and does not include medical assistant in this category.
