Description

DELHMNOTIM_01 indicates whether being unable to get to a health facility in time was a reason why the respondent did not deliver her most recent child in a health facility. The interviewer recorded all reasons mentioned.

DELHMNOTIM_01was not represented by a standardized response category on the survey form, but rather was based on written-in responses next to the label "Other."
The interpretation of this variable may thus vary across samples; see Comparability.

Comparability

Along with universe differences, DELHMNOTIM_01 has differences in interpretation across samples. The broad substantive meaning of the variable -- whether being unable to get to the health facility in time was a reason why the most recent delivery did not occur there -- is consistent across those samples that include the variable.

As noted in the Description tab, DELHMNOTIM_01 was based on written-in "Other" reasons conveying some version of being unable to reach a health facility in time, rather on than a standard response category on the survey form. Only a subset of surveys inquiring about reasons for home delivery created a variable about lack of time; other surveys left this rationale among the responses included in a general "other reasons" variable (DELHMOTH_01).

Comparability - Standard DHS

DELHMNOTIM_01 is a non-standard variable present in some sample datasets from DHS Phase 5 forward.
