Description

DELTRANIA4_ALL indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the female respondent reported that an accredited social health activist (ASHA) arranged transportation to take the woman to the health facility to deliver her child. This response category is country-specific to India.

DELTRANIA4_ALL consists of a set of up to six separate variables, covering the most recent birth (DELTRANIA4_01) up to the sixth-most-recent birth (i.e., DELTRANIA4_02, DELTRANIA4_03, DELTRANIA4_04, DELTRANIA4_05, and DELTRANIA4_06) during the reference period prior to the survey. If DELTRANIA4_ALL is included in a data extract, all these separate variables are included in a researcher's data file.

Some samples in the "DELTRAN" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
