Along with universe differences, DISIMPLIMBHH differs across samples in question wording and response categories.
To maximize comparability across samples, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding. All affirmative responses share a common first digit of "1"; trailing digits provide additional detail only sometimes available (e.g., "Both hands and legs impaired" coded "13").

Cameroon 2011 asks whether any member of the household has a deformity in an upper or lower extremity and cannot walk or has difficulty walking and/or using his/her arms or hands.

Chad 2014 asks whether any member of the household has a deformity of an upper or lower extremity and cannot walk or has difficulty walking and/or using his/her arms or hands.
Universe
- Cameroon 2011: Women age 15-49 in households selected for the men's survey.
- Chad 2014: Women age 15-49 in households not selected for the men's survey.
