Comparability
Apart from universe differences and slight differences in question wording, DVANODOWRY has no comparability issues.
Users should be attentive to wording changes across phases, particularly the removal of a prefacing sentence, noted in the "Comparability â Standard DHS" section, below.
Comparability â Standard DHS
DVANODOWRY a country-specific variable that is not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire, but it is part of a series of questions about when the woman believes a husband is justified in hitting or beating his wife that is included in Phase IV forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.
The Phase IV and V questionnaires word the introductory question as follows: "Sometimes a husband is annoyed or angered by things that his wife does. In your opinion, is a husband justified in hitting or beating his wife in the following situations?"
The Phase VI and VII questionnaires remove the prefacing sentence, and simply ask, "In your opinion, is a husband justified in hitting or beating his wife in the following situations?"
