Comparability
Differences resulting from the question wording for the variable DVHANY (D119Y) may limit the comparability of DVHMA (D119B) across samples. In effect, while most samples ask if the woman has "ever" sought help from her mother to stop such abuse, some samples ask if the woman sought help from her mother to stop such abuse within "the past year."
Only those countries with comparability issues for this variable are discussed below.
Comparability - Standard DHS
DVHMA (D119B) is not included in the standard DHS questionnaire for any phase, but it is based on a question included in phase IV of the standard domestic violence module.

The Egypt 2005 sample asks if the respondent sought help from her mother to stop abuse from her husband or partner within the past year.
