Codes and Frequencies
Description
EDUCLVLNP reports the highest level of school the respondent attended. This variable is country-specific to Nepal and reflects the Nepali educational system.
Comparability
In addition to universe differences and slight differences in question wording, EDUCLVLNP differs across samples in the available response categories. These differences are largely due to changes in the Nepali educational system.
To maximize comparability across samples, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding for this variable. For example, all levels of pre-primary schooling share a common first digit of "1"; the second and third digits provide additional detail if available.
Comparability - Standard DHS
A question about the highest level of school the respondent has attended is included in every phase of the standard DHS questionnaire. EDUCLVLNP is a country-specific variable.
