EDUCLVLTD reports the highest level of school the female respondent attended, using country-specific categories for Chad.
In addition to slight differences in question wording, EDUCLVLTD differs across samples in the available response categories.
To maximize comparability across samples, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding for this variable. For example, all levels of secondary schooling share a common first digit of "2"; the second digit provides additional detail, if available.
Comparability - Standard DHS
A question about the highest level of school the respondent has attended is included in every phase of the standard DHS questionnaire. EDUCLVLTD is a country-specific variable.
