Description
For children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRPK3 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment from a "homeopath." This response category is country-specific to Pakistan.
Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FEVTRPK3 is combined with other traditional practitioners and healers in the 1991, 2006, 2012, and 2017 Pakistan surveys:
- In the 1991 Pakistan survey, FEVTRPK3 is combined with FEVTRPK4 (hakim) and FEVTRPK6 (faith healer) in FEVTRPRIVHL (all traditional practitioners/healers).
- In the 2006 and 2012 Pakistan samples, FEVTRPK3 is combined with FEVTRPK4 (hakim) and FEVTRPK5 (dai/traditional birth attendant) in FEVTRPRIVHL (all traditional practitioners/healers).
- In the 2017 Pakistan sample, FEVTRPK3 is combined with FEVTRPK4 (hakim), FEVTRPK5 (dai/traditional birth attendant), and FEVTRPK11 (community midwife) in FEVTRPRIVHL (all traditional practitioners/healers).

Comparability
Apart from universe differences and slight differences in question wording, FEVTRPK3 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where treatment was sought for the child's fever/cough is included in the standard DHS questionnaire for Phase II forward.
Although FEVTRPK3 is a country-specific response, it is combined with other responses in FEVTRPRIVHL, a standard variable that encompasses all traditional healers/practitioners as sources of fever/cough treatment. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of FEVTRPK3 or the Comparability tab of FEVTRPRIVHL for more information on the specific categories combined for Pakistan 1991, 2006, 2012, and 2017.
