Comparability — Tanzania [top]

Most surveys provided two questions to determine whether the woman believed breastfeeding could affect the likelihood of pregnancy and, if yes, how chances of pregnancy were affected. The 1996 Tanzania survey form instead used the following single question:

Some women think that breastfeeding can affect their chance of becoming pregnant. Do you think a woman's chance of becoming pregnant is increased, decreased, or not affected by breasfeeding?

It is unclear whether the introductory statement affected women's responses.
