Comparability
Along with slight universe differences, variations in question wording for FPBROCHHR (V384E) potentially limit comparability.
Most commonly, the question was "In the last few months have you heard about family planning from leaflets or brochures?" and the exact time-frame is not specified. However, some samples refer to a specific number of months. For example, some samples ask about family planning messages in the last six or three months or, occasionally, in the last year.
Varying time intervals could lead to variation in the frequency of responses. Researchers interested in using FPBROCHHR (V384E) should take the reference period into consideration when comparing across samples. See Survey Text.
Comparability - Standard DHS
FPBROCHHR (V384E) is included in the standard DHS questionnaire for Phase III only.
Comparability — Lesotho [top]
The 2004, 2009, and 2014 Lesotho questionnaires ask about family planning messages "on billboards, posters, or pamphlets."
