Description
FPEMRGIA11 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a private AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) as the place where she acquired emergency contraception. This response category is country-specific to India.
Some samples in the "FPEMRG" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FPEMRGIA11 is combined with FPEMRGIA10 (Private traditional healer) in FPEMRGPRIVTRAD (all private traditional healers) for the 2019 India sample.
Comparability
FPEMRGIA11 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
FPEMRGIA11 is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS women's questionnaire.
Although FPEMRGIA11 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules, it is combined with other responses in FPEMRGPRIVTRAD, a variable that encompasses all private traditional healers as a location where emergency contraception was acquired. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of FPEMRGIA11 or the Comparability tab of FPEMRGPRIVTRAD for more information on the specific categories combined for the 2019 India sample.
