Description
FPEVUSCYCB indicates whether the woman had ever used cycle beads, or the Standard Days Method (SDM), a calendar-based method of contraception, to delay or avoid a pregnancy. The complementary variable FPKNOCYCB indicates whether the woman knew about cycle beads as a method for family planning.
Comparability
Apart from slight differences in how this contraceptive method was labelled and described, FPEVUSCYCB is largely comparable across samples. This response category was most commonly worded as "Standard Days Method," "Cycle beads," or "Standard Days Method/Cycle beads." Review the Survey Text tab for the exact question wording for samples of interest.
Comparability - Standard DHS
Although questions on whether the woman has used a given contraceptive method are included in the standard DHS questionnaire for Phases 1 to Phase 5 and in all phases of the standard recode manual, FPEVUSCYCB is a country-specific response category that is not included in any of the standard DHS modules.
