For women who are not currently using a contraceptive method, FPNONBJ1 indicates whether they reported a "public health worker" or "public health agent" as a source of family planning in response to an open-ended question. This response category is country-specific to Benin.

Apart from slight universe differences, FPNONBJ1 is largely comparable across samples.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where family planning can be obtained for women not currently using a method is included in Phase IV forward of the standard DHS questionnaire, though FPNONBJ1 is a country-specific response and is not included in the standard DHS modules.

- Benin 2001: Women age 15-49 who are not currently using a method of contraception or are using LAM as a contraceptive.
- Benin 2006: Women age 15-49 who are not currently using a method of contraception or are using LAM or a traditional method as a contraceptive.
