Description
For women who are not currently using a contraceptive method, FPNONET4 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported a private clinic as a source of family planning.
Some samples in the "FPNON" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FPNONET4 is combined with FPNONET3 (private hospital) in FPNONPRIVHOS for the 2011 Ethiopian sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FPNONET4 are encouraged to review FPNONPRIVHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
FPNONET4 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where family planning can be obtained for women not currently using a method is included in Phase IV forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.
FPNONET4 is combined with other responses in FPNONPRIVHOS, a standard variable that encompasses private hospitals and clinics as potential sources of family planning. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of FPNONET4 or the Comparability Tab of FPNONPRIVHOS for more information on the specific response categories combined for Ethiopia 2011.
