For women who are not currently using a contraceptive method, FPNONMW1 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported a public health post or outreach program as a source of family planning. This response category is country-specific to Malawi.

Though IPUMS-DHS integrates "government health post" across samples (see FPNONPUBHP), FPNONMW1 is not included in the integrated variable because it consolidates multiple sources into a single category.

Comparability

FPNONMW1 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question about where family planning can be obtained for women not currently using a method is included in Phase IV forward of the standard DHS questionnaire. FPNONMW1 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules.
