Description

For women who are not currently using a method of contraception, FPNONPUBFW (V3A00E) indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported a "public fieldworker" as a source of family planning.

Users should be careful to distinguish this variable from FPNONPRIVFW ("fieldworker" under the private medical sector category).

Comparability

In addition to universe differences, the wording of this response category varies across samples. This response option was consistently categorized under a "public sector" header, and the standard wording was "fieldworker." Some samples diverged from this standard convention, using instead variations or combinations of "health worker," "community health worker," and "community-based distribution agent." In the 2012 Pakistan survey, there are two separate categories for "lady health worker" and "lady health visitor." Because FPNONPUBFW focuses on all public fieldworkers, these responses are consolidated in this variable to create a more comprehensive response category.
