Description
FPNONTD1 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a public military hospital as a source for family planning. This response category is country-specific to Chad.
Some samples in the "FPNON" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FPNONTD1 is combined with FPNONTD10 (Government/Maternity hospital) and FPNONTD8 (public free clinic) in FPNONPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2014 Chad sample.
IPUMS DHS users interested in using FPNONTD1 are encouraged to review FPNONPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
FPNONTD1 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where family planning can be obtained for women not currently using a method is included in Phase IV forward of the standard DHS questionnaire. FPNONTD1 is a country specific response not included in the standard DHS questionnaire for any Phase.
