Description
For women who are not currently using a contraceptive method, FPNONTZ2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported a public district hospital as a source of family planning. This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.
Some samples in the "FPNON" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FPNONTZ2 is combined with FPNONTZ1 (regional hospital), and FPNONTZ3 (referral hospital) in FPNONPUBHOS for the 2010 Tanzanian sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FPNONTZ2 are encouraged to review FPNONPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
FPNONTZ2 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where family planning can be obtained for women not currently using a method is included in Phase IV forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.
Though FPNONTZ2 is a country-specific response, it is combined with other responses in FPNONPUBHOS, a standard variable that encompasses public hospitals as sources of family planning. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of FPNONTZ2 or the Comparability tab of FPNONPUBHOS for more information on the specific categories combined for Tanzania 2010.
