Description
For women who are not currently using a contraceptive method, FPNONTZ7 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported a religious district hospital as a source of family planning. This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.
Some samples in the "FPNON" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FPNONTZ7 is combined with FPNONTZ6 (religious hospital), FPNONTZ8 (religious health center), and FPNONTZ9 (religious dispensary) in FPNONPRIVMISfor the 2004 Tanzanian sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FPNONTZ7 are encouraged to review FPNONPRIVMIS for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
FPNONTZ7 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where family planning can be obtained for women not currently using a method is included in Phase IV forward of the standard DHS questionnaire, though FPNONTZ7 is a country-specific response.
To increase comparability across samples, IPUMS-DHS created the standard variable FPNONPRIVMIS to integrate samples including a religious or faith-based facility as a source of family planning. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of FPNONTZ7 or the Comparability tab of FPNONPRIVMIS for more information on the specific categories combined in the 2004 Tanzanian sample.
