Description
FPNOWUSPLT indicates whether the woman is now using medicinal plants or herbs to delay or avoid getting pregnant.
IPUMS-DHS users may also be interested in FPMETHNOW (V312), which reports the woman's current contraceptive method.
Comparability
Apart from universe differences, FPNOWUSPLT is largely comparable across samples.
Some surveys did not specifically ask about medicinal plants or herbs, but respondents could volunteer this method when asked about "any other methods."
Comparability - Standard DHS
A question about the woman's current contraceptive method is included in Phase IV forward of the standard DHS questionnaire, though FPNOWUSPLT is a country-specific response and is not included in the standard DHS modules.
