FPPRECALENDCMC (V392) is a 4-digit numeric variable.
9996 = Inconsistent
9997 = Don't know
9998 = Missing
9999 = NIU (not in universe)
Description
For women who were not using a contraceptive method at the start of the calendar period (usually meaning 5 years preceding the interview) but who had used a method earlier, FPPRECALENDCMC (V392) reports the century month date when the woman stopped using her last contraceptive method within a specific interval during that earlier period.
For women who had at least one birth before the start of the calendar (or before the preceding five years), the reference period is between the last birth prior to the start of the calendar and the start of the calendar. For women who had no births before the start of the calendar, the reference period is any time before the start of the calendar.
For information on how to interpret and calculate century month dates, see DOBCMC.
Comparability
Apart from variation in the length of time covered by the reproductive calendar, FPPRECALENDCMC (V392) is comparable across samples.
Comparability - Standard DHS
FPPRECALENDCMC (V392) is included in Phase II of the standard DHS questionnaire for high contraceptive prevalence countries (i.e., using the Model "A" standard questionnaire with retrospective reproductive calendar questions).
