Description
FPPROBWDS2 (V308_10) reports the woman's opinion about the main problem, if any, with using withdrawal as a family planning method. Interviewers collected the information through an open-ended question and then recorded the woman's response using country-specific codes.
IPUMS-DHS interested in using FPPROBWDS2 may also be interested in FPPROBWDS, which coded the woman's response using standard response categories.
Comparability
Along with changes in the universe and slight question wording differences, FPPROBWDS2 (V308_10) varies across samples in the number and type of response categories.
To maximize comparability across samples, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding and a 2-digit coding system. The first digit broadly distinguishes between different problems (e.g., side effects/health concerns), and the second digit provides additional detail within these initial groupings (e.g., side effects for woman versus side effects for child).
Comparability - Standard DHS
FPPROBWDS2 (V308_10) was included in the standard DHS questionnaire for Phase 1 only.
