Description

GEOALT_IA2019 indicates the district in India where the respondent was interviewed. Districts are second administrative level of geography.

Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. There is also an integrated variable, GEO_IA1992_2015, that provides spatially consistent units over time with less geographic detail (states). The first administrative level of geography, states, can be found in GEO_IA2019.

Comparability

GEOALT_IA2019 is a country- and sample-specific variable and has no comparability issues.
