Description

GEO_SL2013 (V101_SL2013) reports the region of Sierra Leone where the respondent was interviewed. DHS units in the 2013 Sierra Leone survey are equivalent to provinces.

Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. The integrated variables GEO_SL2008_2019 and GEOALT_SL2013_2019 provide spatially consistent units for Sierra Leone over time. The Sierra Leone 2008 sample is excluded from GEOALT_SL2013_2019 due to lack of detail.

Comparability

GEO_SL2013 (V101_SL2013) is a country- and sample-specific variable and has no comparability issues.

Comparability - Standard DHS

GEO_SL2013, like other V101 variables, is a geographic variable added during processing of the DHS data. V101 (and the equivalent variables MV101 for men and HV024 for household members) are included in all Phases of the DHS.
