Description

GEO_ TG1988_2017 reports the region of Togo where the respondent was interviewed. The variable is integrated to yield units with consistent boundaries for Togo across samples.

Labels identify the modern geographic units (regions). Each sample for Togo also has its own non-integrated geography variable.

Comparability

For the 1988 survey, Maritime includes the capital city of Lomé. In 1998, Lomé is separate from the Maritime region. For the 2013 and 2017 surveys, the Maritime region excludes the commune of Lomé and the urban areas in the Golfe prefecture.

The 2017 sample correspond to a Malaria Indicators Survey (MIS).
