Description
HCFCG2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the female respondent reported a public health post as a source for female condoms. This response category is country-specific to Republic of the Congo - Brazzaville.
Some samples in the "HCF" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
HCFCG2 (public health post) is combined with HCFCG1 (government health center) in HCFPUBHC (all public health centers and posts) for the 2011 Republic of the Congo - Brazzaville sample.
IPUMS-DHS users interested in using HCFCG2 are encouraged to review HCFPUBHC for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
HCFCG2 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question on known sources for female condoms is included in the standard DHS questionnaire in Phase IV forward, in countries where female condoms are actively promoted.
HCFCG2 and the related variable HCFPUBHC, which combines HCFCG1 with other responses to encompass all public health centers and health posts, are country-specific and not included in the standard DHS questionnaire. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of HCFCG2 or the Comparability tab of HCFPUBHC for more information on the specific categories combined for the Republic of the Congo - Brazzaville 2011 sample.
