Comparability — Index
Comparability
Along with universe differences, HCHHANYPAY differs across samples in question wording and response categories. To maximize comparability, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding for this variable. All affirmative responses share a common first digit of "1"; additional detail only sometimes available is preserved in the second digit (e.g., code "11" for "Token payment").
