Description
LANGFORMHH (HV045A) reports the language on the questionnaire form used for the household interview.
The language on the household questionnaire form may have differed from the language spoken during the interview. The related variable LANGINTERVIEWHH (HV045B) reports the language used to conduct the household interview, while LANGTRANSLATEDHH (HV046) indicates whether a translator was used to conduct the household interview.
Comparability
LANGFORMHH (HV045A) uses composite coding, in which the first digit of the code indicates the broad region of the world (e.g., "1" for European languages) and the remaining digits identify the specific language (e.g., "1001" for English). Codes ending in "999" mean "other language" within the broad language group (e.g., "1999" for "Other European language").
