Description
For women who had ever been married or lived with a man, LOCALITYFMAR (V524) reports the number of localities the respondent had lived in for at least six months since the date of her first marriage or union.

Comparability
Along with universe differences, question wording differences limit the comparability of LOCALITYFMAR (V524). First, those samples restricted to ever-married women ask about the number of places lived since "first married," while samples including all women of childbearing age frame the question as "first married (started living together)" according to the respondents' circumstances. Second, the type of geographic information collected varies across samples. While the normative wording was "number of localities," with the definition of "locality" left up to the respondent, some surveys specified particular geographic units.
