Codes and Frequencies
Description
MLNETSRC reports where the respondent acquired her mosquito net.
Comparability
Along with universe differences and slight differences in question wording, MLNETSRC differs across samples in the number of response categories.
To maximize comparability, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding, with "Purchased" responses having a first digit of "1" and "Received from NGO or other organization" responses having a first digit of "2." The second digit distinguishes between locations to purchase a mosquito net (codes "11" through "14"), when this additional information is available.
Comparability - Standard DHS
MLNETSRC is a country-specific variable not included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire.
Universe
- Guinea 1999: Women age 15-49 who use a mosquito net and who got the most recent mosquito net herself.
- Rwanda 2000: Women age 15-49 who slept under a bed net the previous night.
