Description

For women who had malaria in the last year, were prescribed medication to treat the malaria, and purchased the prescribed medication, MLTRELRXGH1 indicates whether they purchased the anti-malarial medication at a private pharmacy. This response category is country-specific to Ghana.

Some samples in the "MLTRELRX" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these response in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

MLTRELRXGH1 is combined with MLTRELRXGH2 (private chemist/drug store) in MLTRELRXPRIVDRUG (all private, formal drug sources) for the 2016 Ghana sample. IPUMS DHS users interested in using MLTRELRXGH1 are encouraged to review MLTRELRXPRIVDRUG for a more comprehensive response category.
