MONTHINT_NP (V006_NP) reports the month when the interview took place, according to the Nepali calendar. This variable is only available for Nepalese samples.
Apart from universe differences, MONTHINT_NP (V006_NP) is comparable across Nepalese samples.
All standard date variables in Nepal DHS samples are given in the Nepalese calendar, or Vikram Samvat. The Nepalese year uses 12 lunar months of 29-32 days. According to the Gregorian calendar, the Nepalese year begins in mid-April and ends the following April. In general, the Nepalese calendar is 57 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar.
