Description

For women who gave birth in the 5 years before the survey, PNBABCKB_ALL indicates whether the woman's baby had a checkup before discharge from the place of delivery.

PNBABCKB_ALL consists of a set of six separate variables, covering the most recent birth (PNBABCKB_01) up to the sixth-most-recent birth (i.e., PNBABCKB_02, PNBABCKB_03, PNBABCKB_04, PNBABCKB_05, and PNBABCKB_06) during the reference period prior to the survey. If PNBABCKB_ALL is included in a data extract, all these separate variables--when available--are included in a researcher's data file.

This variable differs from the similar variable PNBABCK_ALL in that PNBABCKB_ALL is specifically about checkups before discharge from a medical facility, whereas PNBABCK_ALL indicates whether the baby received a checkup at all within 2 months of delivery.

The related variable PNBABCKDIS_ALL indicates whether the baby received a health checkup after discharge from the place of delivery.

Comparability

PNBABCKB_ALL has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

PNBABCKB_ALL is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS women's questionnaire.
