Description

For women who gave birth in the 5 years before the survey, PNBABCKDIS_ALL indicates whether the woman's baby had a checkup after discharge from the place of delivery.

PNBABCKDIS_ALL consists of a set of six separate variables, covering the most recent birth (PNBABCKDIS_01) up to the sixth-most-recent birth (i.e., PNBABCKDIS_02, PNBABCKDIS_03, PNBABCKDIS_04, PNBABCKDIS_05, and PNBABCKDIS_06) during the reference period prior to the survey. If PNBABCKDIS_ALL is included in a data extract, all these separate variables--when available--are included in a researcher's data file.

This variable differs from the similar variable PNBABCK_ALL in that PNBABCKDIS_ALL asks specifically about checkups after discharge from a medical facility, whereas PNBABCK_ALL indicates whether the baby received a checkup at all within 2 months of delivery, regardless of discharge from a medical facility.

Comparability

PNBABCKDIS_ALL has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

PNBABCKDIS_ALL is a country-specific variable, and it is not included in any phase of the standard DHS women's questionnaire.
