STIADCG3 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the female respondent reported seeking advice or treatment from a traditional healer/therapist the last time she experienced symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past year. This response category is country-specific to Republic of the Congo - Brazzaville.

Some samples in the "STIAD" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

STIADCG3 (traditional healer/therapist) is combined with STIADCG4 (other traditional therapeutic source) in STIADPRIVHL (all traditional healers and herbalists) for the 2005 Republic of the Congo - Brazzaville samples.
