Description
For women who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past 12 months, STIADEG17 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported seeking advice or treatment from a public curative care organization for this problem. This response category is country-specific to Egypt.
Comparability
STIADEG17 has no comparability problems.
In the 2008 Egypt survey, "health insurance organization" and "curative care organization" are consolidated into one response category. This response is preserved in IPUMS-DHS in STIADEG18.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where the woman received advice/treatment for an STI is included in Phases III, V and VI forward of the standard DHS questionnaire. STIADEG17 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS module.
