Description
For women who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past 12 months, STIADNP2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported seeking advice or treatment from a public sub-health post for this problem. This response category is country-specific to Nepal.
Some samples in the "STIAD" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
STIADNP2 is combined with STIADNP1 (public health post) in STIADPUBHP (all public health posts) for the 2006 and 2011 Nepal samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using STIADNP2 are encouraged to review STIADPUBHP for a more comprehensive response category.
Comparability
STIADNP2 has no comparability problems.
Comparability - Standard DHS
An open-ended question about where the woman received advice/treatment for an STI is included in Phases III, V and VI forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.
Although STIADNP2 is a country-specific response not included in the standard DHS modules, it is combined with other responses in STIADPUBHP, a standard variable that encompasses all public health posts as sources for STI advice/treatment. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of STIADNP2 or the Comparability tab of STIADPUBHP for more information on the specific categories combined for Nepal 2006 and 2011.
