Codes and Frequencies
Description
STIDISCHGYR (V763C) indicates whether the woman had any bad smelling abnormal genital discharge in the last 12 months.
Comparability
Along with universe differences, STIDISCHGYR (V763C) varies in question wording. Most samples ask about bad smelling discharge as a single category. However, some samples differentiate between foul-smelling discharge and general discharge. STIDISCHGYR uses composite coding to combine data from these two approaches.
A first digit of 1 indicates the woman had foul-smelling discharge in the last 12 months, while the second digit differentiates between foul-smelling discharge and general discharge.
Comparability - Standard DHS
STIDISCHGYR (V763C) first appears in phase V of the Standard DHS. It is included and consistent in all subsequent phases of the standard DHS questionnaire.
